Chairman FPSC presents annual report of the commission for the year 2011
Chairman Federal Public Service Commission Former Justice Rana Bhagwandas today called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr today and presented Annual Report of the Commission for the year 2011.

The Report presented today said that for CSS Competitive Examination 2010, out of 7759 candidates who appeared in the exams, 628 candidates finally qualified and 205 of them were allocated to various services. In 2011, 786 candidates out of the appearing 13071 qualified and 239 were allocated to various Group/Services. The Report said that in 2012, 10066 candidates have appeared in CSS examination against 14335 applications.

It said besides CSS Competitive examination, the Commission continues general recruitment throughout the year for technical/professional positions. In 2011, it said, 890 candidates were recommended for various appointments against the available positions in the Federal Government.

The Report also highlighted various other activities of the Commission including the Online Application Facility, Online CNIC Verification Facility, SMS based information delivery System for the candidates and Outreach Career Counselling Program of the intending candidates.

The Chairman FPSC also brought to the attention of the President the recommendations of the Commission which pertained to improving standards of education, initiating an effective program to enhance level of instruction and quality of intellectual interactions in colleges and universities of Pakistan and lastly, improvements in the pay packages of the government servants.

The President while talking to the Chairman FPSC reiterated his call for concerted efforts to bring qualitative improvements in the education standards, on one hand, and to rationalize the pay package and allied facilities of the civil servants, on the other, so as to attract best minds to the government service and to provide them with adequate incentives to work with devotion and whole heartedly.

The President said that the falling education standards for the past few years call for greater efforts to reverse this trend and to equip our youth with the necessary tools to fight the battle of life.

He said that after 18th Amendment, education was largely in the domain of the provinces and all concerned should work together and chalk out an effective strategy to improve the education standards.

He said that the Government has taken several important steps for the welfare of the civil servants however much needs to be done including rationalizing their pay packages and offering them with other necessary facilities so as to attract the best minds to the civil service and to enable them to deliver to the best of their abilities.

The President also appreciated the services of the Commission and assured the Chairman that the Government will look into the Commission's recommendations on priority basis and take steps to implement them.
