President felicitates Ms. Moneeza Hashmi
President Asif Ali Zardari has felicitated Ms. Moneeza Hashmi, first Pakistani and first ever woman President of Commonwealth Broadcasting Association on being unanimously re-elected as the President of the organization for another two years' term.
At the concluding session of the three day conference which ended in Brisbane, Australia, Ms. Moneeza Hashmi was again nominated for a two year term. The election commission declared her re-elected as nobody from 67 Commonwealth contested against her candidature.
Moneeza Hashmi is the daughter of great Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz and has worked as Director Programs for PTV.
"It was a matter of great satisfaction that the women of Pakistan continued their strides in every field of life" the President said in his message of felicitations.
The President said that for him the news of Pakistani women excelling in different fields carried special significance. It brought to mind the life long struggle of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for women emancipation and how that continuing struggle witnessed one milestone after another, he said in his message.
