NATO Secretary General invites President to Chicago summit
ISLAMABAD: Secretary General NATO Rasmussen telephoned President Asif Ali Zardari on May 15, 2012 and invited him to the NATO summit to be held in Chicago on May 20, 2012. According to a statement from the President House, the President said that the invitation would be considered in light of the Parliament's guidelines and government's advice. He also said that that a decision on the invitation will be communicated to NATO later. Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the invitation by NATO Secretary General for the two-day NATO summit was unconditional and not linked to the opening of ground lines of communication for NATO or to any other issue.
