"By the Grace of Almighty Allah, the Government of Pakistan has taken significant strides for the social, political and economic empowerment of women as equal citizens of the state. Women in Pakistan are today adequately represented at all tiers of governance, from the grass root level to the provincial and national assemblies. Steps have also been taken to have legislation in order to curb crimes against women."

(President General Pervez Musharraf)

"There is no doubt in ones mind that violence against women is the most abhorrent crime. We condemn it, I condemn it, I reject it and I stand on the side of women. I have said it so many times publicly in all the addresses. My belief has always been that taking advantage of the weak or doing violence against the weak, by a man against the woman is mostun-chauvinistic and unmanly. This has been my belief
always because I beleive that the real virtue of being strong, of strength is in humility therefore I also believe that the stronger must not impose their will on the weaker."

(Presedent General Pervez Musharraf)
